Katherine lives on the outskirts of Newbury with her husband and their two teenage boys. Originally gaining a degree in Botany she has been a teacher, garden designer and photographer. She enjoys growing fruit , keeping bees and hiking.
Katherine trained for over 3 years at the College on Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, UK qualifying in 2021 with a 2:1 Honours Degree in Acupuncture from Kingston University and her Licence to Practice Acupuncture. This course integrated 5 Element Acupuncture with Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)
Her great passion however is the study of Classical acupuncture and the use of the compliment channels.
She has full professional indemnity insurance and is a full member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) https://acupuncture.org.uk/acupuncturist/katherine-dukes/
The BAcC is the largest professional body for Acupuncture in the UK and its member must adhere to its Code of Safe Practice. Over 3000 acupuncturists are registered with the BAcC with all practitioners having a minimum of 3600 hours of training at degree level. BAcC is a member of The Accredited Register Scheme run by The Professional Standards Authority and backed by the UK government.
Katherine has a current First Aid Certificate and undergoes Continuing Professional Development and supervision. The Practice is licensed by Hampshire County Council Environmental Health.
ICPD - Katherine has completed a further 120 hours training in Advanced Classical Acupuncture in the lineage of Jeffrey Yuen. This includes the study of the compliment channels (Luos, Sinews, Divergents and Extraordinary vessels).
These channels go beyond the Primary channels to deeper levels and are used by the body to triage and hold pathology in latency. Understanding these gives greater scope in effecting change in the body
These are the reservoirs of blood created as networks of vessels along the Primary channels. The blood stores the emotions.
These are the outermost channels where we meet the world and interact with it.
These deeper channels make use of the large spaces in the body to hold pathology in latency.
These are the deepest reservoirs beyond the reach of the Primary channels and touch on our essential nature and constitution.
